Ethereal Tunic - A Figgy's Pattern & A Giveaway Announcement!!!

Ethereal Tunic - Pattern by Figgy's

Hi!! Today I'm back, talking about yet another fab.u.lous. pattern from Figgy's, the Ethereal Blouse!

Whew... Let me just stop here and tell you... I have been sewing so much awesomeness lately that my head is literally spinning as I'm sitting here typing this. SO much of it is top secret that will have to wait a while until I can share. AND. It's killing me. But, even though I want to share, I barely have time to sit down and type up the few things I CAN share :)

Next week is KCW, I'm so not ready, but I'm hoping to be able to sew along even a little. Although, it totally feels like it's been KCW around here for the last few weeks...

If you've been following me on Instagram, you'll have seen bits and pieces of some of the things I've been working on! *hint, hint* Follow here ;)

**And in other exciting news... Read all the way to the bottom of the post for some more unrelated but super fun giveaway details!!**

And now, back to the fabulous top my little miss now has in her closet. Seriously. Her clothes are better than mine.

So, I had a majorly hard time picking out a few patterns from the shop to sew, I mean there are so many awesome ones I didn't even know how to narrow it down...

I did however, know immediately, the Ethereal Dress & Blouse was the top choice. There are tons of options included in the pattern that will take you from summer to winter, dress to top.

Since we are FINALLY having some warmer weather, and with the promise of heat and humidity just around the corner I decided to make the sleeveless top version for the summer.

My fabric choice is a striped shirting from Joann. It is the perfect lightweight and neutral top to go with so many things. It will be getting TONS of wear this summer, I am so excited about it!

I love the flowy-ness of this top! The flutter detail is so so perfect.

The pattern starts at 18mo and my lil' peanut's chest measurement was still smaller than that. I wasn't too worried about the top being wide, it goes with the look, but I was worried about the armholes and the neck being too large. So I adjusted the bottom of the armholes up by 1/4" and then when I sewed, used only 1/4" seam allowance. I also used only 1/4" seam allowance at the neck. I am very, very happy with the fit with these small, simple changes!

The back closes with a simple button and loop.

I can't wait to pair this top with fun shorts and leggings. And it can easily be dressed up or down. It would also be super cute paired with a cardi. With the generous sizing, I can see this top being worn for a LONG time to come. And that is music to a sewing mama's ears :)

  1. This is adorable! It'll be so perfect for summer - if summer ever actually shows up. I'm having doubts. ha! And is it just me, or is she looking super grown up in these pictures - at least that first one with her serious face on. ha! Too little to be so serious!!

    1. Thank you Amy!! We finally had a taste of summer this week, I was starting to doubt too! :) And no, it's not just you, she is looking SO grown up. Makes me sad! But, oh man, I do love 2 year olds, she makes me laugh ALL the time :) Not sure what's with the serious face, I think her thoughts may have been "Again with the pictures??" Lol :)
