SLIDER

Stripes & Ruffles

Thursday, May 30, 2013

There is just something about navy and white. It gets me every time. It's classic. I have loved it for as long as I can remember. I have discovered that on little girls, paired with pastels, it's irresistible for me!!

This outfit was inspired by this pin.

I first made the skirt and then was brainstorming about how to re-create the shirt, but just hadn't figured it out yet. In the meantime, I was at Crazy 8, returning a gift from my mom that didn't fit Olivia and spotted this shirt. I may have nearly squealed. :) It was so perfect! And not to mention, less money than what I was returning. YAY! And so, the outfit came together. Love when that happens :)

Chair Cushion Tutorial

Tuesday, May 28, 2013

We have a "new" highchair in our kitchen! But this isn't just any highchair, it's an heirloom. My dad is the youngest of 3, and he and his 2 brothers used it when they were children! I am so happy my kids get to use it now as well! The chair was in it's original condition when we got it, which wasn't terrible, it's still very solid. Evan used it for about 2 years just like it was. The finish however, had worn off completely in places, so I wanted to refinish it to protect it. I decided to give it a face-lift and paint it a fun, happy color!

I decided to make a fun little cushion for it too. Since Olivia is using it these days, I decided to make it a bit girly. Because girly is just so fun. :)

Tutorial - Owl Case For iPod Touch

Thursday, May 23, 2013

Today I have a really fun and adorable little project to show you! And since it's just so cute, I know you're going to want one for yourself, so I'll show you how to make it!

For my sister's birthday, she not-so-subtly hinted that she would like an owl case for her iPod Touch. I really didn't mind, I'd rather give her something that I know she really wants than shopping for hours on end and not finding the exact right thing! That, and I really love giving handmade gifts!

Mabo Kids Gingham Drawstring Shorts Knock-Off

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

I really love a good knock-off! It is so much fun for me to find a look that I LOVE and see if I can recreate it. Pinterest really is my largest source of inspiration. I have spent hours laying in bed at night, pinning. Tell me you haven't done the same??? :) I also love browsing kids clothing websites, and then, of course, pinning looks that inspire me.

The look I'm showing you today was inspired by mabo kids. A very fun website to browse!

Little Girl's Summer Nightgown

Thursday, May 16, 2013

My kids are just growing by leaps and bounds... Does anyone else have this problem with their children? ;) As I was looking through Olivia's wardrobe to see what was needed most, summer pjs were at the top of the list. I thought a nightgown would fit the bill just perfectly. I think this one is pretty sweet. Or maybe it's the girlie that's so sweet :)

I had a very specific style of nightgown in mind for this project and then went on a pattern hunt. Wow! Have you tried searching Pinterest for nightgown patterns??? Or elsewhere on the web... Not an easy thing to find, I discovered!

Strawberries & Cream Cake

Tuesday, May 14, 2013

Strawberries are in season here in NC!!! While I would love to say the strawberries I used for this cake are from my garden, it sadly isn't so.... Once I figure out how to protect them from the deer, rabbits & weeds, you can bet I will grow my own! :)

I had 6 lbs of fresh strawberries from our local strawberry farm in my house and had to get creative in using them up! The first 3 lbs I chopped up & added a bit of sugar, then we devoured them over top of vanilla ice cream and our cereal in the mornings. Oh my. Yum.

Mini Boden Jersey Baggies Knock-Off

Thursday, May 9, 2013

A little while ago I spotted these adorable and uber comfy looking shorts on Mini Boden's website. I really like to browse on there looking for inspiration for sewing for my munchkins. As soon as I saw them I knew I would have to try to knock these off! And I had just the fabric in my "re-purpose stash"!

The inspiration:

My version:

For practically $0, I managed to copy them, and am pretty happy with the outcome!
