Happy Tuesday friends!

I can't believe it's almost November. It just hit me today. I'm so not ready for the holidays! But at least I'm working on getting my wardrobe stylishly ready for it. Haha ;)

So if you've been around the knit fabric world lately, you probably have heard things here and there about brushed poly. It's the latest thing, and I had to find out why, for myself!

I used this double brushed poly in olive, from Finch Fabrics. (It's on sale for a STEAL through the end of the month!)

I'm here to tell you, this stuff is super, deliciously soft. It washes well, doesn't wrinkle, and has amazing stretch and recovery. It's well suited for leggings and form fitting dresses, because it is completely opaque, even when stretched. But it also has a lovely drape. I'm not much of a leggings or wrap dress wearer, but I was really curious about how it would perform as a drapey cardigan, so I gave it a go!

I am very happy with the outcome! The drape in the front is exactly what I was after.

However, full disclosure here. I think my choice of cardigan pattern and the brushed poly aren't *quite* the perfect marriage. I am totally pleased with both separately, and am happy with the outcome of this project. In fact, I haven't taken it off since making it! But, the Canyon Cardigan pattern that I used has quite a few seams in the body and it affects the drape of the fabric somewhat. I would definitely use the fabric again for a cardigan, but I would probably opt for a Laurelhurst Wrap or the Wrapped Cardigan by Seamly. They both feature full front and back pieces without seams, and the drape of the brushed poly would be amazing in either of those patterns. It would also look great with a close fitted sleeve.

I think I just talked myself into making another cardi. Lol. One can never have too many of those anyway!!

So now let's talk about why I DID choose the Canyon Cardigan!

I wanted a sleeveless drape-front cardigan. The things that appealed to me with this pattern were that the neckband wasn't overly thick and bulky. I needed something to wear in the wishy-washy fall weather we have here and didn't want something that would leave me feeling like I'm wearing a scarf all day. I wanted that part to be optional, hence the scarf ;) The Wrapped & Laurelhurst patterns are more for winter wear for me personally. I also liked that the back of the pattern was more fitted like a regular cardigan, with the drape only in the front.

I did make one change to the pattern, I eliminated the pleat in the center back of the "skirt" part. In doing this, I could have easily cut the skirt on the fold since my fabric was plenty wide enough, but didn't, because, mom-brain. But, high-fiving myself for the seam intersection at least!

When I received my latest box of happy mail from Finch Fabrics this month, I couldn't get the pairing of the black tie-dye rayon spandex and the olive brushed poly out of my head. I just loved how they worked together! I had already planned to make the cardigan, so it only seemed natural to use the super soft rayon spandex to make a scarf.

I'm so happy I did! I love this outfit so much and I will be wearing it at least once a week through the fall and probably into the winter, too! I mean I've worn it twice in the last 3 days already...

I had 1 yard of the rayon spandex to work with, if you have 60 inch wide fabric, this is perfect for a simple infinity scarf. Simply straighten up the raw edges and sew those right sides together, then flip it so the open ends of the tube meet up, also right sides together and sew around, but leave a small opening to turn the whole thing right side out. Then either hand stitch or use your machine to close up the hole. Easy as can be! I think it took me 15 minutes total to sew it up.

It was windy ;) A true fall day. It was glorious!

But also very sunny... I had a hard time with finding a spot to shoot this day. Oh the drama we bloggers have. :)
