Soleil Dress Pattern Tour
Hi guys!!
It's just me, talking again about my favorite summer knit dress pattern for the little girlie!! This is the second Soleil Dress I've made for her and I'm not done yet. You can see the first one I made and read more about how much I love this pattern here. I've got at least one more planned after this. My theory is she really can't have too many comfy knit dresses in her closet!

Since i made the closed back version last time, I wanted to try the open back version for this one. Uber cuteness!!
O has a super teeny waist (as in she measure for 12-18mo on most patterns) but is a solid 2 in this pattern for the chest, so I did have a bit of an issue with the back gaping a bit. I followed all of Lauren's great tips on getting the right fit along with taking in the sides of the bodice by an inch and also tacked the top overlap down a bit. This made a huge improvement. The photo above she is pooching out what little belly she has so the gap looks worse than it really is. :) *Update: After a run through the washer and dryer the back opening is PER.FECT. Even though I had prewashed, the second wash made the opening shrink up just the right amount*
I spotted this knit fabric at Joann and immediately knew it would make the perfect Soleil. I'm pretty sure I was right!
This dress screams summer, and comfort. And ice cream. Or maybe the ice cream part is just me...
We are headed to the beach today and both Soleils are packed and ready to go! Can't wait to see her wear these on the boardwalk.
It passes the twirl test!
And is super comfy for running...
Being silly...
And just lounging around...
You want need this pattern!
