Do you need a quick handmade Christmas present project yet before the big day? And better yet, a project that uses up scraps only?

Matching Christmas PJs

Friday, December 20, 2013

The title of this post could also be "Christmasy Flannel PJ Muslins". Because that's really what they are :) But that's not nearly as fun! But when the idea wriggled around in my head to make ALL of the kids' winter PJs (that idea hit while walking through Joann Fabrics and they happened to have had a HUGE sale on all of their cuddle flannel) this year and I spotted this particular flannel on clearance for $1 something a yard, I couldn't resist a matching set. And for that price these became the muslins for the rest of their winter PJs.

Sparkly Corduroy Skirt For the Holidays

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

Sometimes I see something... either an item of clothing in a store, an ad, or *usually* a picture on Pinterest that sparks an idea. But what I love, is how that idea changes and morphs into something totally different than the original but is still just as awesome or even more so in the end.

The Norah Dress and Tunic Pattern Tour!

Wednesday, December 11, 2013

A couple of weeks ago, I finished up this ADORABLE Norah Tunic for my little miss. The pattern is by the lovely Hayley from Welcome to the Mouse House. It was such a fun pattern. You know how sometimes an article of clothing just makes your already cute kid (I'm not biased, ahem...) seem just a bit cuter? To the point where you feel like you just HAVE to squish em' and cover em' in kisses? Yeah, this one does it for me :)

KCW #1: Debbie's Birthday Dress - In Corduroy

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

I'm so excited to be telling you about this pattern today!

It also happens to be the first item I have completed for Kid's Clothes Week! I decided to join in very last minute, so I will not be cranking out the awesome amount of garments that some of the other ladies are ;) But I am following the rules, work on kids' clothing, at least one hour a day, for seven days.

The Bring-You-Up-To-Date Post

Thursday, October 3, 2013

Happy Thursday All!!

Have you all thought that I may have dropped off the planet?  Well, I haven't. Quite. :)

The last month I have been more absent from this space, that is true. But it is all because I'm trying to be more "present" away from this space.

Lots has been happening! Including some sewing. I won't ever get away from that. And lately I've been dreaming of a new machine. While I love my old Kenmore, it is quite basic and not great at handling bulky sewing. I've been doing more bulky sewing than usual lately and it's got me thinking about the greatness that is Bernina.

And the hubs even stopped in at a Bernina dealer the other day while driving around for work stuff. EEP! He did not buy me one, unfortunately, but he did bring home some spec sheets and brochures. Nothing like fueling the fire :)

So what have we been up to?

Well, this boy turned 4!!!

Summer PJs Tutorial

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

Happy Tuesday!!

So today's post title should be: Finishing WIP's: Summer PJs Tutorial. But that's a little long-winded so let's just pretend, k? :)

I'm actually getting into the fall mood but this project has been cut out since June. Procrastinate much? But I'll just say that it's the weather. We're still having summer weather around here so the pjs are totally appropriate. ;)

Creating With Kids - Kid Art Tutorial

Thursday, September 5, 2013

Today I'm bringing home this fun art project I did with my little munchkins. It was first published over at my friend Palak's blog, Make It Handmade.

I've had this art project rolling around in my head for a while and we finally got it done!!

We were all pretty excited about it and had fun making it together.

Zipper pouches! And MORE zipper pouches!

Tuesday, September 3, 2013

Happy Tuesday!! I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing holiday weekend!

Did you take advantage of any sales, online and in store, this weekend? There were so many! I can't quite believe it, but I was good and didn't go shopping. Not even online! I'll blame it on being too busy :)

Sometimes it's fun to sew something different from the usual. And I've been having fun lately!

Handmade Confessions - Guest Posting

Friday, August 23, 2013

Happy Friday!!

I'm wishing this Friday was happier around here, apparently our household got hit with a stomach bug. :( I'm going to be spending the day trying to keep the 3 of us who aren't sick, healthy and the sick one feeling better!

A bright spot though, I am excited to be over at Make It Handmade again today, participating in Palak's series called Handmade Confessions.

Head on over to see what I'm "confessing"!

Here's a hint...

The Tinny Dress - Flipped

Thursday, August 22, 2013

I may or may not be a procrastinator... I squeeked in under the wire with my pattern flip for this month's Flip This Pattern over at Frances Suzanne! And it was a good one. I had sooo many ideas running through my head for ways to flip the Tinny dress, and I actually have another one planned that I want to make for O's birthday dress (which is in 2 weeks!!!). As you can tell, I just didn't have it together enough to get them both done for the series. :(

A Nursing Cover

Tuesday, August 20, 2013

I'm at that stage in life where at any given time there are friends around me who are having babies. And I love any excuse to do some baby sewing :)

A nursing cover is not exactly sewing for baby, but it is a perfect, fun, quick project that is very useful and pretty!

Sometime I need to sew something different and have it be a quick satisfying project. This nursing cover was just the thing. And it makes me so happy that a friend who just had a baby will get lots of use out of it!

Pineapple Salsa Recipe - For Canning

Monday, August 19, 2013

We are deep in tomato season here and this salsa is something that I make every summer with tomatoes from our garden. Normally peppers from our garden too, but seriously?!? Somehow my 15 plants managed to produce next to nada. So far I have had one jalepeno and one bell pepper. My banana peppers are doing ok-ish. I am no garden expert and I did what I could to help the poor plants but it was apparently not enough... I have never had a problem other years. I would stick them in the ground and they grew waist high and I had more peppers than I could handle! Oh well. There's always next year :)

This recipe is SO. EASY. Only chopping and mixing is required. I never even peel my tomatoes for this recipe. But if you prefer them peeled, than feel free!

Kid Pants With Piped Pockets

Thursday, August 1, 2013

This post was originally published at Once Upon A Sewing Machine.

Having both a little boy and a little girl I can vouch for the fact that sewing for girls just seems to have more hype than sewing for boys. There are so many adorable sewing patterns out there for girls, but I'm seeing more and more for boys as well! And when it comes to basic patterns for boys, the customization options are endless, giving you LOTS of variety on just a simple basic pattern. Take this tee for example. Just a tiny bit of embellishment, and you have a custom tee that looks like it could come from a designer kids clothing company. Believe me, I saw one at Zara kids that gave me the inspiration to create that shirt. While I can't afford the clothing from the designer brands, I CAN do my best to recreate them for a lot less money. And it's SO FUN!!!

Image Only Interview on Caila Made

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

Hi guys!

I am so so SO excited to be guest posting over at Caila Made today!

The minute I stumbled onto Caila's blog, it was love at first sight. Her writing is so genuine and down to earth. Her sewing is AMAZING and her sweet little models are just so adorable! And when I reached out to her for a little blogging advice I found out she is so sweet and kind in real life too! I want to be just like her when I grow up :)

Along with four other lovely ladies and myself, Caila is conducting an Image-Only Interview all week long, with a line of description if necessary.

Hop on over and see what questions she has been asking and the creative ways everyone is answering them with a photo!

Here is a sneak peek at my photos. Head *HERE* to read the interview!

Until tomorrow!
