I always start out my posts the same way. "I'm so excited!!" But the truth is... I'm so excited!!!! Today I am excited to be part of this fun tour!

Funny story, one day I hopped over to the Straight Stitch Designs shop and was perusing, thinking... I really need to buy some of these patterns, these look like some great staples to have. Being in the super distracted mommy stage that I'm in, I narrowed it down to 2 patterns and then left my cart, never to return, for at least 4 days. All the while, I was still mulling it in my head, thinking I need to figure out which one I wanted to try first. 

Well, a few days later, I got an email out of the blue from Kimberly, asking if I wanted to "Remix the Stitch". Of course I didn't have to think twice!!

So here's my remix. The Ravenna top.

This summer we got the kiddos a little/big pool. So of course there is daily swimming, which requires suits. And more suits. So what's a sewing mama to do??

It was a sad, sad day when I realized O had very much outgrown the two Soleil's I made for her last summer. They were easily her most worn mama-made's. 

Of course I had to make her a new one!

But, details.

I changed this one up with details! I color blocked a 3" strip at the hem, and used the same solid mint for the back bodice, but overlay-ed it with a stretch lace. The front side of the pockets are also solid mint, but that's a fun detail, just because, sewing magic.

Welcome // Baby

Welcome // Baby

 Things have been quiet around this space in the last 10 months...

Not so much in every day life though. Our little family grew by one huge blessing that came in the form of this tiny little bundle.

I have always thought children were huge blessings and could not have been more grateful for the first two we were given. Or so I thought. Until I experienced the loss of not one, but two, no matter how early on, they were my babies. 

And now to have been blessed with this third little miracle. My heart explodes with gratefulness. He has been prayed for harder than I have ever prayed for anything in my life. It seemed that every step of my pregnancy with him, God asked yet again, do you trust me? The answer was always yes. Even when it was so hard and I wanted to be afraid. 

We are all so completely in love.

And he rewards us daily with his squishy, delicious goodness, happiest of smiles and laughs.

And I can't have a post without some sewing talk...

I haven't stopped sewing!! It hasn't been as frequent but there is still sewing going on! And now that we are emerging from the newborn fog, I hope to visit here a bit more frequently. In fact, I may even break the rules and post twice today. The next one with a sewing project!

It's good to be here again. I've missed it.

Hi friends! I'm taking a bit of a break from my blogging hiatus (have you noticed??) to share something I find very useful and am pretty excited about!

When I was asked if I would like to do a review of Virginia's (of Gingercake Sews) new book, Sewing To Sell, I jumped at the chance. You see, I have this little Etsy shop. It's tiny, but I am rather fond of it. But I opened it without a clue. And even as I continued on in the little adventure most of the questions I had about an online shop lingered. Well let me tell you, after reading this book I feel very enlightened and inspired! 

I sat down one afternoon to "start" reading the eBook and ended up not quitting until I was at the end! I found it to be very inspirational. I mean, I constantly get an "I should make and sell this certain thing!" idea, but what's so awesome about this book is that Virginia includes 16 patterns that are there for you to use exactly as written or tweak to your liking and you are free to sell any items made from them! This is a rarity in the blogging community. It is so generous of her to share her hard work in the book.

And not only does it include the patterns, she offers a wealth of advice from getting started, to the business end of things, tips on sewing your products to save time and fabric and even tips on how to photograph your items for online listings.

I decided to go ahead and give the Two at a Time Oven Mitts a try because I thought they were super cute and my kitchen drawer is in serious need of some new oven mitts!

I'm in love with the result!

I am excited to be a part of this series, hosted by Jenya and Renee. But I'm even more excited to read everyone else's posts! I love the idea behind this series, because I believe it truly is one this we all have in common. Life changes. Constantly! The longer I'm married, the more kids we have, the older the kids get, change is more and more a part of our lives and I'm learning how to deal with that. Hopefully with a little bit of smoothness. :)

Currently I am in the middle of a LOT of change. Right now, my body is changing, daily it seems, as I'm growing another little human. We are in the middle of a BIG year long remodeling project which came on the heels of our first year long remodeling project in this house (a new kitchen). We took about a year "break", meaning we didn't work steadily but always had little related projects going here and there. We are still going strong! With many more projects in the plans. Someday I hope to blog about that...

Hayley from Mouse House Creations is celebrating her ONE YEAR pattern selling anniversary with a huge, huge sale on every single one of her patterns! It is a 50% discount, which is HUGE, guys!

I have sewn up several of her patterns over the last year and I adore each one that I've had the chance to use!

The first of her patterns I sewed was The Norah Dress. She wore this little top to nearly every holiday party we went to last year and got lots of compliments on it!

The dress is still in regular rotation. It works great with a tee under, as a sundress or with a cardi. A dress for all seasons! It's getting too short now which makes me oh so sad, but I have plans for another long sleeved Norah to get us through this winter and I'm quite sure she needs another knit sundress version for the next year or so as well!

Next up was The Persimmon Dress. I tested this dress and even being a test version it was quite perfect and totally adorable. She wore this until it was just way too small. I'm super sad about that and am holding to the possibility she'll have a little sister I can pass it down to ;) *We find out in about a week if it will be so!!*
