Eleena Dress for Easter // Sewing For Girls

This year's Easter dress was brought to Miss O by, the Eleena Dress and THIS gorgeous fabric that I was ever so fortunate enough to win in a giveaway from Brooklyn Pattern Company!

I couldn't believe my luck, especially since I just on a whim decided to enter because I saw Erin's dress and thought it was gorgeous. I wasn't completely sure what I would do if I won, but as soon as I opened the package I new it was destined to be an Easter dress for Olivia.

I paired it with a chambray from Joann Fabrics. It is from the Famous Maker line. It's a really nice weight and great to work with and I'm a huge fan of the color. I bought the chambray with intentions of making coordinating shorts for the boys, but this was all dreamed up the week of Easter. Oops. So instead it became the inside of the pleat and a bow that I made as an accent for the dress. It is pretty perfect, I think! The boys will be getting those shorts, yet. And they will all go to church coordinating someday, heh! :)

Skipper Top & Clover Shorts // Sewing for girls

For the baby's first birthday party, I had the crazy notion that we ALL should have new handmade clothes to wear! Well except for my husband... I need to change the none at all lack of sewing for him.

I managed to complete 6 items of clothing for the party, with a 7th needing only a hem and a buttonhole.

Today Miss Olivia is showing off her new clothes, of which she was quite proud!

I actually bought the fabric for both of these pieces over a year ago, thinking they would be perfect together and even with these patterns in mind! How often does that happen?? They are both from Hobby Lobby.

The shorts are my go-to pattern for her, the Clover Shorts (affiliate link) by Mouse House Creations, from the original Willow & Co collection. I even got to test them way back when. They are so good and my affection for them has certainly not changed!

ONE And WILD Birthday Party // Handmade Frenzy

My baby is ONE!!!

I'm really not sure how to feel about my third and probably last baby turning a year old. I'm happy and sad. But mostly happy. I'm not terribly sad to see the sleepless nights fewer and farther between, and I'm LOVING watching his little personality blossom and those first words, and we still have the first steps to look forward to. This is a fantastic place to be. Both baby and toddler. My favorite.

For his birthday party, I went with a loosely "wild" theme. Throw a few teepees, arrows, a woodland animal together and we have ourselves a party!
(The adorable little fox hanging out in the background is made my lovely friend April. She made him as a baby gift when Aiden was born, he's still a favorite and much loved friend, April!)

Next came the cake smash! This was actually his second cake, he got to smash one on his actual birthday and I set up a little photo shoot (with my new lens!!) with that one.

Aztec Montlake Tee // Pattern by Straight Stitch Designs: Sewn by Handmade Frenzy

I am FINALLY getting around to posting this Aztec Montlake tee I made way back in the beginning of February. Actually I started it in January. Yikes!

But it seems to be a rule of thumb that the things that get worn or used the most are the ones I never (or almost never) get around to blogging!

I must change that.

French Terry Nessie Top: Sewn by Handmade Frenzy

I made this fun little Nessie Top Sweatshirt for my little valentine back in February.

This shirt came about because when you let fabrics linger in your stash, they eventually become friends and start hanging out together. At least that's how my fabrics like to socialize. Oh, yours too? ;)

Book Slings // PDF Pattern Review by: Handmade Frenzy

I met Terri of Blue House Joys a little while ago on IG, as most IG friends go, I don't remember exactly how it happened, haha. Terri makes amazing items that she sells in her shop to create the coziest reading nooks you can imagine!

Book Slings // PDF Pattern Review by: Handmade Frenzy

Just this week, she released a pdf pattern for her book slings, so that if you're sewing savvy you can make your own, all the mathematical work already done for you!
