Welcome to the blog, Little Buddy!! 

I just organized a bunch of my photo mess collection on my computer and was devastated to realize that I had almost no video of this little man from the past year! Then it dawned on me that they are all on my phone. Whew. In fact he is the star of the show on my phone's sd card. BUT. I made it another 2017 goal to get out my big camera more and take photos and videos of my kiddos, because I just like having better lit photos than my phone can produce. Especially of this little one, who as of late, seems to be growing right before my eyes!!

Turns out, I just so happened to finish up a little outfit for him last night, so I took advantage of our little photo shoot to benefit the blog as well ;)

What he is wearing is a pair of Brindille & Twig Cuff Pants and a Titchy Threads Rowan Tee.

I finally sized him up to the next size in the Cuff Pants from the first time I made him several pairs, over a year ago! This pattern gets a lot of mileage, Woo! But really, so does the Rowan Tee. This is actually the first Rowan I've made for him, but he's been in the same size Safari Raglan (also a TT pattern, and the sizing is the same) for over a year as well and the sizing is still great for him. 

Both patterns are made in size 12-18 month. For the next Rowan Tee, I will narrow the neckline. I'm not sure if it's because of the fabrics I chose, but it is plenty wide on him.

Both fabrics I used are from LA Finch Fabrics. The pants are a french terry remnant that I built an order for, just so I could snatch it up! The shirt fabric is an absolutely scrumptious baby rib knit. It is seriously so thick and soft, I just want to snuggle up with him in it! And smoosh his cheeks. But that's every day anyway, so...

The neckband ribbing is one I've had in my stash for ages. I love the pop of color against the near neutrals so much!

Waterfall Raglan Dresses // Sewing For Girls

I fell in love with the Waterfall Raglan pattern by Chalk and Notch right from the start. I fell **Head.Over.Heels** with the stretch velvet versions popping up everywhere. Since I don't have 2 girls of my own to sew matching things for, I took advantage of the opportunity to sew matching cousin dresses instead!

Oh my goodness, I just about can't handle the cute!!

The Waterfall Raglan is another fantastic pattern from Gabriela. It has a gathered ruffle hem, 3 sleeve options (short, 3/4, long), and top or dress length.

For my 12 month old niece (who wears 18-24mo RTW), I made the pattern size 12-18 month. The fit of both dresses is spot on.

O's dress is a size 4 with size 5 length based on her measurements. The fit is perfection.

I just really love the easy comfortable design of this pattern. That ruffle hem gives it just the right amount of special, and because it can be sewn in such a huge variety of knits and prints it is extremely versatile! Not to mention all the options, it's perfect for every season and every occasion.

The fabric I used for the dresses is Eggplant Stretch Velvet from Stylish Fabrics. This was my first time sewing with this type of fabric and it was a great experience! I struggled a little bit getting my fabric lined up for cutting until I discovered if folded right sides together, the nap "grabs" against itself and stays put! From there it was easy going. Here is a fabulous post on sewing with velvet that I would recommend reading. It is a little bit delicate, especially if using an iron. But as far as washing, I prewashed in cold water and tumble dried. Since sewing, I machine wash the dress in cold water and air dry flat. Just to preserve the life of the fabric. Don't shy away from this substrate! It is absolutely lovely.

Just because the glitz of the holidays is over, doesn't mean this dress is getting stashed away. It's perfect for winter Sundays! However, I can't wait to sew a bunch more of these, especially tops, to wear with leggings and jeans!

**I made this little set, also for my niece, for her 1st birthday. Eep! Just fuels the fire for making a ton more of these!**

I'm over at Imagine Gnats today, talking all about my Toaster Sweater #2 that I sewed up in this amazing soft and cozy ponte de roma knit from her shop.

Hey everyone!! Today I'm celebrating the release of the amazing Alina of Alina Sewing + Design Co's second pattern! It is the Panama Tee & Dress Pattern, which includes 2 dress length options, a tee and 3 sleeve lengths.

And by celebrating I mean, jumping for joy that this pattern is in existence. Both the Chi-Town Chinos and now this dress pattern, are exactly what I wear all day, every day. Having patterns that match what I already wear anyway, is basically just the best thing ever. Not just having the patterns, but having well drafted, high quality and simple to use patterns is everything.

I was thrilled to be able to test this pattern and made 2 dresses during the process.

I chose to sew up the TIP Top Dress & Tunic pattern for my stop around the block. It's one of those patterns that I have admired since the moment it was released. I'm so happy I finally got the chance/reason to sew it up! 

My daughter's chest measurements fell between the 3/4 & 5/6 sizes. Since the pattern is meant to be quite loose fitting I decided to go with the 3/4 size in width and lengthened to 5/6. It's perfection!!
