Swim Swim Swimsuits

Monaco Swim Trunks, Tutu Cute Swimsuit

This summer we got the kiddos a little/big pool. So of course there is daily swimming, which requires suits. And more suits. So what's a sewing mama to do??

Navy. Stripes. Green.
What more could you ask for!?

Matchy, but not.

The baby glows. No sun for that sweet baby skin!!

For the boys' suits I used the Monaco Swim Trunks pattern. {affiliate link} I sewed it up just as written, side stripe option for the big boy, a faux drawstring with eyelets for both. I am super happy with the outcome. With the full lining, they are super soft and comfy. I can see a few more in their future!

For Olivia's suit, I started with the Tutu Cute Swimsuit pattern {affiliate link} and hacked it a bit.

I chopped up the front to add the center panel with stripes going vertical. The suit is 2T width and the panel is 3" for reference.

I made it into a 2 piece, using the tutu cut line as my separating point. I simply hemmed the top portion and added a band at the waist, similar to the way the boys' trunks are constructed. I realize now I failed to take a picture of the back! Boo. The straps are crossed in the back. I love the sporty look of the whole thing.

Of course they had to try them out as soon as they were done!

  1. These are awesome! Love the matching but not really matching look. The baby's facial expressions are the best hahaha You will get used to being photographed for the blog little one ;)

  2. I really love what you've done with the stripes on your daughter's swim top, and all the matching-but-different swimsuits are gorgeous. The navy and green looks great together, too - I must try to remember this colour combo next time I sew bathers :)
