Pintuck Blouse - Pattern Test
Hi!!
I recently had the privilege of testing out the adorable new pattern that Christine from Heidi and Finn designed. And it released today! So I finally get to show you my versions (there is a dress to follow), and you can also run and grab the pattern for yourself!
I recently had the privilege of testing out the adorable new pattern that Christine from Heidi and Finn designed. And it released today! So I finally get to show you my versions (there is a dress to follow), and you can also run and grab the pattern for yourself!
This is a first of several patterns I'm testing out currently, that and a ton of other projects I've got going. (Oh, and the girlie is potty training!!) I've been meaning to do a "behind the scenes" post, but, well, I haven't managed to squeeze that out yet.
So if things go well, maybe you'll be seeing me around here a little more frequently soon. Let's hope!
Alrighty, on to the subject of the post...
This is seriously such a sweet pattern. I love simple designs with just a little something extra. In this case, as the name suggests, the pintucks at the neckline. It lets the fabric shine and still adds just that perfect amount of a little something extra.
This pattern can be made in knit or wovens. Lucky me got to test it out in knits! I've been LOVING sewing with knits for my kiddos. I will admit though. This top gave me fits. My machine and I were fighting, well more specifically, my double needle and I. I'm pretty sure it's time for a new one! After that, I had to sew something with a woven to get out my frustration. (Pretty sure it was just a bad sewing day, we all have those)
And besides, she needed a cute skirt to wear with the top! I used the circle skirt tutorial from MADE. And then went on to sew the dress version of this pattern, you'll be seeing that later this week!
So a little more about the pattern. This would be a PERFECT pattern for a beginner, especially if using a woven. There are no closures to deal with, just a cute bias binding around the neck that then ties to close up the back. Simple, straightforward and so cute! The options are long sleeve, short sleeve, top or dress length. Shorten or lengthen the ties for a different look in the back. Don't let the pintucks deter you, they are so super simple and the way Christine explains them in the pattern is fabulous. Also, she includes instructions on making your own bias tape and shows SUCH a clever way to fold it!
So head on over here to buy the pattern for yourself!!
And now for a picture heavy story of visiting the icecream shop in her new pintuck top & skirt!
We got there just as the shop opened and big bro couldn't wait to open the door for all of us.
OHHHH!! Energy was running high...
Choosing a flavor. Although, he never deters from his favorite.
Waiting her turn.
What kind do you want?
She had no idea :) So samples were had...
Happy with their choices!
(Another shot of the pintucks, I really love them! And they are not hard to sew into knit if you use a stretch or ballpoint needle!)
It was a 70 degree day in February. I want spring to come and STAY!!!
Thanks for stopping by!! And thanks Christine for letting me test out this pattern, I can't wait to make more!
